Description
Coolant expands as it heats up and needs space within the system. Ageing plastic can crack around seams or fittings and allow small losses that only become obvious after repeated hot journeys.
Suitable for BMW F30 and F20 models with B48 and B58 engines.
Cooling parts work together rather than independently. A sealed circuit with correct fluid level gives the pump and radiator the conditions they need to operate properly. A small leak can become easier to see when the system is warm and pressurised. Dried coolant deposits often help locate the affected joint.
Look out for the following symptoms:
- Cracks or damp patches around the tank body.
- Repeated coolant top-ups without an obvious hose leak.
- Dried coolant deposits near the seams or hose outlets.
Inspect the pressure cap and level sensor connection. Check the surrounding hoses for dried coolant before refilling the repaired circuit.
