Description
The upper arm is one of the locating links that guide the front wheel. This front right upper control arm is suitable for selected BMW 3 Series F30, 1 Series F20, 4 Series F32 and 4 Series F36 models. Wear in its connections may affect steering accuracy and produce knocks when the suspension changes direction. Replacing the arm repairs the loose link within that system.
Control arm wear can develop gradually. Small amounts of movement may first be noticed through a change in steering feel before a constant loud knock develops.
Look out for the following symptoms:
- Wandering steering or uneven tyre wear.
- Cracked bushes or movement in a suspension joint.
- Clunking as the wheel crosses bumps.
Inspect the lower arm and steering joints. Check alignment after the suspension connections have been restored and correctly tightened.
