Description
The thermostat and pump work together to manage heat in an N55 cooling system. This part is for the E-Series versions including 135i and 335i models. Temperature that stays too low can be as useful a clue as overheating because a valve that remains open prevents normal warm-up.
Suitable for BMW E-Series vehicles with N55 engines, including 135i, 335i and 3.0i.
Temperature faults can have more than one cause. Checking circulation and visible leakage helps direct the repair towards the component that is actually worn. Correct coolant protects the repaired system as well as the new component. Mixing unsuitable fluids or leaving air trapped in the system can reduce cooling performance.
Common reasons to inspect this part include:
- Slow warm-up or temperatures that stay unusually low.
- Engine temperature rising because coolant flow is restricted.
- Coolant escaping around the thermostat housing.
Inspect the nearby coolant hoses and housing connections.
