Description
A thermostat controls when coolant flows through the radiator. If it stays open the engine may warm up slowly. If it remains closed heat can build up quickly. This part is suitable for N52 and N54 engines across several vehicle ranges including 323i, 325i, 330i and 335i models.
Suitable for BMW vehicles with N52 and N54 engines, including 130i, 323i, 325i, 330i, 335i, 523i, 525i, 530i, 630i and 730i.
A small leak can become easier to see when the system is warm and pressurised. Dried coolant deposits often help locate the affected joint.
Signs that this component may need attention include:
- Coolant escaping around the thermostat housing.
- Slow warm-up or temperatures that stay unusually low.
- Engine temperature rising because coolant flow is restricted.
Inspect the pump and thermostat housing seals. Coolant condition and correct bleeding also influence how well the repaired system controls temperature.
