Description
The rear suspension on an F10 relies on effective damping to settle quickly after road impacts. This rear shock absorber is suitable for selected BMW 5 Series F10 models. This unit can be used on either side at the specified axle. A worn unit can allow too much rebound and make the vehicle feel less composed with passengers or luggage. Replacement may restore more controlled rear suspension movement.
Dust protection and bump stops help protect the working assembly. Damaged rubber parts should be assessed while the shock is removed during replacement.
Look out for the following symptoms:
- Continued bouncing after a dip or speed bump.
- Oil leakage or damage around the damper body.
- Uneven tyre wear or an unsettled ride through bends.
Inspect both rear shocks and mounting bushes. Check the bump stops and spring condition while access is available.
