Description
The E90 front left strut combines wheel guidance with damping of spring movement. A worn shock can leave the body bouncing and let tyre contact become less consistent over rough surfaces. This left-side replacement is a practical repair when oil leakage or reduced damping is found during suspension inspection.
A damper controls movement while the spring carries the load. Low ride height therefore needs a separate check of the supporting components rather than a shock replacement alone.
Possible signs of wear or failure include:
- Uneven tyre wear or an unsettled ride through bends.
- Continued bouncing after a dip or speed bump.
- Oil leakage or damage around the damper body.
Check the strut mount and stabilizer link while access is available. Assess the front right damper and have alignment checked afterwards.
