Description
The oil vent return hose forms part of the N52 crankcase ventilation arrangement. This crankcase breather hose is suitable for BMW vehicles with N52 engines, including 130i, 323i, 325i, 330i, 523i, 525i, 530i and 630i. A brittle pipe or damaged coupling can leak and upset ventilation operation. Replacing the affected hose restores a sealed return route.
Crankcase pressure should remain controlled during operation. Abnormal vacuum or pressure can point to a damaged valve or a restricted route elsewhere in the ventilation circuit.
Possible signs of wear or failure include:
- Damaged connectors or restricted ventilation.
- Cracks or oil residue around the vent hose.
- Whistling or an uneven idle from an air leak.
Inspect the oil separator and adjoining vent hoses. Check the connector seals because a small leak can remain after the pipe is replaced.
