Description
The N46 cooling circuit relies on sealed hoses as well as a working radiator and pump. This foil-wrapped coolant hose is suitable for BMW vehicles with N46 engines, including 120i, 320i and 18i. Heat exposure can age rubber and connection points. A replacement addresses hose leakage before repeated top-ups become part of everyday driving.
Correct coolant protects the repaired system as well as the new component. Mixing unsuitable fluids or leaving air trapped in the system can reduce cooling performance. Cooling parts work together rather than independently. A sealed circuit with correct fluid level gives the pump and radiator the conditions they need to operate properly.
Possible signs of wear or failure include:
- Cracked rubber or a brittle plastic fitting.
- Coolant loss that becomes noticeable after driving.
- Coolant marks around the hose connectors.
Inspect both end fittings and the surrounding heat protection. Check the thermostat and coolant level after the repaired system is bled.
