Description
The high-pressure fuel pump raises the pressure supplied to the N20 direct injection rail. The pump works alongside the separate tank supply pump. This big-plug high-pressure fuel pump is suitable for BMW vehicles with N20 engines, including 125i, 220i, 320i, 420i, 520i and 20i. Pressure loss may become most noticeable when the engine is accelerating under load.
Fuel delivery depends on the electrical feed as well as the pump. Pressure testing helps distinguish restricted supply from a weak motor or another fuel system fault.
Possible signs of wear or failure include:
- Fuel rail pressure faults or restricted performance.
- Longer cranking before the engine starts.
- Hesitation or loss of power under load.
Check low-pressure supply and rail sensor readings. Inspect fuel connections and follow the correct pressure-release procedure during replacement.
