Description
The parking brake actuator applies and releases the system when instructed by the vehicle’s controls. This parking brake actuator is suitable for selected BMW 7 Series F01 models, including 730d, 740i, 740d, 750i, 750d and 760i. A failing unit may produce warnings or inconsistent response. Mechanical brake resistance can also overload an otherwise working actuator.
Low supply voltage can affect electronic brake operation. Checking the electrical feed and the mechanical system helps identify the part responsible for an intermittent fault.
Common reasons to inspect this part include:
- A parking brake that fails to apply or release.
- Parking brake warnings on the dashboard.
- Unusual noise or faults from the actuator unit.
Inspect the brake mechanisms and electrical supply. Read stored faults and follow the applicable service and calibration procedure during replacement.
