Description
This booster pipe forms part of the N55 intercooler air intake route. This air intake pipe is suitable for BMW vehicles with N55 engines, including 135i, M235i, 335i, 435i, 35i and M40i. Heat and movement can damage pipe joints and seals. A leaking connection may reduce response under load. Replacing the damaged hose restores containment along that part of the air circuit.
A pressure or smoke test can help locate an intake leak. Checking the full air route avoids mistaking a damaged hose for a sensor or turbocharger fault.
Common reasons to inspect this part include:
- Cracks or splits in the intake duct.
- Loose joints or damaged hose fittings.
- Air leaks with hesitation or uneven engine running.
Inspect neighbouring charge-air joints and seals. Check clamps and fittings before treating reduced boost as a turbocharger failure.
