Description
This standard conrod bearing set is suitable for selected BMW F20, F30, F32, F36, F10, E84, F25 and E89 models with N20 engines. The shells are supplied in standard STD size. Wear can increase clearance and produce knocking but replacing shells alone may not correct damaged journals. The crankshaft and rod housing should be measured so the rebuilt assembly has suitable oil clearance.
Clearances and surface condition influence oil film strength and the durability of the completed repair.
Look out for the following symptoms:
- Knocking linked to connecting rod bearing wear.
- Scoring or damage on the bearing shells.
- Excess clearance or debris found during engine strip-down.
Inspect the journals and oil pump system. Check bearing clearances and remove contamination before assembling the lubricated surfaces.
