Description
The long crankcase vent tube carries gases through the intended ventilation route on F30 and F20 N13 models. This long crankcase breather hose is suitable for selected BMW 3 Series F30 and 1 Series F20 models with N13 engines, including 118i, 120i and 316i. Heat exposure can weaken its connectors before the main pipe shows damage. A replacement restores this longer section and helps the ventilation system remain sealed during idle and normal driving.
Crankcase pressure should remain controlled during operation. Abnormal vacuum or pressure can point to a damaged valve or a restricted route elsewhere in the ventilation circuit.
Signs that this component may need attention include:
- Damaged connectors or restricted ventilation.
- Cracks or oil residue around the vent hose.
- Whistling or an uneven idle from an air leak.
Inspect the short breather pipe and vent valve. Check each coupling for a firm sealed connection before completing the repair.
