Description
A coolant reservoir can lose fluid through a fine crack without leaving a large puddle. This expansion tank is suitable for F30 and F32 vehicles with B48 or B58 engines. Its role is to accommodate changing coolant volume within the pressurised cooling circuit. A sound tank helps avoid repeated top-ups caused by reservoir leakage.
A small leak can become easier to see when the system is warm and pressurised. Dried coolant deposits often help locate the affected joint.
Signs that this component may need attention include:
- Repeated coolant top-ups without an obvious hose leak.
- Dried coolant deposits near the seams or hose outlets.
- Cracks or damp patches around the tank body.
Look over the cap seal and hose outlets. Check for leaks once the engine has warmed up and the system is pressurised.
